It was a damp and overcast morning as the iPubs team breached the Hurlingham gates. Wet astro, heavy balls, and scratch pairings filled the agenda for Sunday 20th September.

The iPubs finished the first round surprised and 2-1 up, after some abnormally good tennis left some of our team and a couple of our opponents in disbelief. Paul Thompson decided to turn into prime Sampras for the day, hitting some nuclear bounce smashes from outside his own tramlines.

Unfortunately, one of the enemy was forced into an early retirement, leaving Hurlingham a pair short; not the way we wanted things, but the iPubs capitalised on the free rubbers as we headed into crunch time.

After a 3rd round of mix & match and amendments to the rubber scoring, the iPubs delivered a commanding final scoreline of 7-4 in sets. A superb victory on away turf was secured with great tennis played across both teams.
